MSW HANDLING RULES 2000

In view of the Municipal solid waste handling rules GVMC has been integrating various activities come under scientific disposal of the waste. Under VPH (Visakha Public Health) Various wings have been demarcated and specific functions were allotted and concerned 2nd level officers are made accountable and public were informed about the contact cell numbers.

Through press the citizens were informed regarding the availability of call center to lodge complaints regarding the sanitation, accumulation of garbage, choking of drains, stray dogs, cleaning of dumper bins will be attended immediately. The complaint will be forwarded to the concerned officer through SMS Message. GVMC has been divided into 6 Zone and each zone headed by one AMOH;

Most important component of the Integrated MSW Management is segregation of waste at the generation itself into wet and dry garbage and collect into colour coded plastic containers green and red separately. All the residents of the city should follow this procedure. For Better public participation, the corporation made the residents as partners of the programme by contributing Rs.10/- per month per each house.

DOOR TO DOOR GARBAGE COLLECTION Corporation made the residents as partners of the programme, by their contribution of Rs.10/- per month per each house., Corporation contributes Rs.10,000 worth of Tricycle with two bin system Red and green. The Rickshaw will come to each house and the residents are requested to hand over. The plastic containers with garbage (wet and dry separate) to the Rickshaw putters. RWA should take up the responsibility of collection of Rs. 10/-.

Show each house. They should also employ the Rickshaw pullers 250 houses can form a R.W.A and submit an application to the commissioner for sanction. Formal verification will be done of concerned AMO and application will be forward to commissioner through CMOH.
SUBHRAM Subhram is another PPP scheme roads and cleaning of Drains, the quantity of work will be assessed by the concerned CMOH on the request letter of the colony taking the road length contribute Rs.1000/- to each worker and Rs.100/- to purchase the implements and Disinfectants with Auto functioning and computerized for Transparency of the activity and for counting of trips per day. The weigh Bridge works round the clock.
DUMPER BINS AND DUMP PLACE Secondary collection from street sweeping and storage. The Sweepers after sweeping from roads, drain cleaning the keeps will be collected and stored in the street Dumper Bins. Each Dumper bin will be daily lifted, by a Dumper placer. If there is any is convenience regarding the placement of iron Dumper bin the resident can contract the concerned Zonal health officer. Presently there are 500 Dumper bins and 37 Dumper placers working to list the Bins
TRANSFER STATION
Located is Municipal sewage form for Transportation City garbage through 14 tones capacity Taras. There is Weigh Bridge.
DUMPING YARD
100 acres have been identified in kapuluppada area 22km away from the city for scientific Disposal of solid waste.
PELLETIZATION
The solid waste is processed through. Pelletization and reggregate reject. 
SANITARY LAND FILL
Eject are being scientifically Disposed by Sanitary landfill. This item of work is under Progress. 
MAJOR DRAINS AND GEDDAS DESILTING
Un authorized occupation and Encroachments led to narrowing of major drains, Diversion of geddas, indistmate disposal of waste and Debris led to inundation of low lying areas during rains sessions. Errigedda, Gangulugedda, levendor canal are being cleared and periodically through proclaims.  
DEBRIS ROUBLE
House Demolition and construction activity waste Shall not be stacked on the road. The residents shall transport the some at their own Expenses and reclaimed in to the pits and low lying areas identified by T.P Section of GVMC. Defaulters ions will the prosecuted as per the provisions of act.   
BIO MEDICAL WASTE COMMON FACILITY
Waste generated from the hospitals is collected separately through Mridi echo industries. There are about 5 Govt. hospitals, 3 public sector undertaking hospitals and 5 Corporate Hospitals in the city having the bed strength of approximately 4500. Maridi will charge Rs. 2.50 NP per bed per day to collect the Hospital waste and dispose scientifically through common facility established in kapuluppada Damping yard. Contact phone Number: 2723904
