COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
The immediate task for the
Civic Body is to redress public grievances and complaints. In a hierarchical
organisation, settling these grievances become easier if they are monitored
and if they are to be monitored one needs system to do that. Under this
project a comprehensive complaints/grievances handling system has been
devised and introduced. The essential features of this system are
- Recording of all the
grievances in one database. The complaint/grievances may be received at the
civic center or through the Internet or through the post or in person but
they all go to the same data base enabling comprehensive monitoring.
- The system also provides
methods to transfer the said complaint online to the concerned officer.
- The system also ensures
communication to the complainant about the status of the redressal of his
complaint.

PROPERTY TAX AND OTHER CHARGES
DUES
Online collection of
property tax through the service banks have already brought immense benefit
both to the Corporation and to the Citizens. The Citizens at the click of
the button can get the details of their assessment, their dues and the
balances. They can also ask for alterations in their assessment records, if
necessary. The corporation is also able to track the receipt of the property
tax amounts in various banks on a real time basis.

BIRTH AND DEATH
The registration of birth
and death is mandatory. Every citizen is a valuable human resource of the
country and therefore it becomes everybody’s responsibility towards
the country to register any Birth or Death in the family. The facility is
being provided to the common citizens to come to the civic center and get
their certificates delivered instantaneously. The entire birth and death
record for the last seven years has been computerised and uploaded. The
citizens can know whether his name is registered in the municipal records at
the click of a button.

TENDER NOTICES
Every Government
organisation has to follow tendering procedure to give equal opportunity to
every body while taking up any work. The general perception is that
tendering procedures remains shrouded. The project offers the facility to
the contractors to get on line tender notices. They need not run from pillar
to post for getting them now.

ON-GOING WORKS
The Corporation executes
host of infrastructural works including the laying of the roads, drains,
water pipelines, buildings and other civic amenities. The computerised civil
works monitoring system helps the citizens and elected representatives track
the status of civil works getting executed in their wards/city. They can
also know who is doing that and what is the scheduled time of completion,
what is the estimated cost and other relevant details. This should clearly
bring accountability and transparency in the execution of these works.

BUILDING PLAN APPROVAL
The Visakhapatnam
Municipal Corporation is engaged in the task of approval of building
applications, sub-division of plots and regularisation of the structures
within the city limits. The online facility of filing the building
application forms, tracking their disposal is being provided enabling the
Corporation to fulfill the commitment of disposal of such applications
within the stipulated period.

TAP CONNECTIONS
The access to drinking
water is the fundamental right of every citizen. Visakhaptnam Municipal
Corporation is the official provider of the drinking water in the city. The
filing of tap application and tracking its disposal is a hurricane job both
for the Corporation and the Citizens. The Corporation now provides the
facility of online filing, tracking and disposal. If provision of drinking
water is a fundamental duty of the civic body, disposal of sewer through a
in non-hazardous manner is also equally important. The online facility to
get the underground drainage connection can result in timely disposal
minimising the hardship to the citizens.

SANITATION
One of the major
priorities of the Corporation is to keep the city clean and green. Inorder
to make system more accountable and transparent, the project provides the
facility to the citizens to see the garbage lifting performance in their
respective wards/city on a day to day basis, through a computerised
weighbridge connected to the Internet through an ASP programme. Now at the
click of the mouse, citizens have the right to see how garbage gets moved
out in their locality.
